Today, I am listening to Kings of Convenience and I do miss their soothing and pleasant music.
Brings back a lot of memories of my university years. Approximately ten years later, I am listening to these songs again and I relate to these songs even deeper than last time.
I feel so deeply for the lyrics because I have moved on so much in life. Friendships and relationships changed and this song below speaks of my heart. If only I can share this with my friends and they get it but however, they are not people who read or enjoy poetry or lyrics. One day, if I can reach their hearts with the right words just like Atari reached the heart of his uncle Kobayashi with a haiku. For now, here’s the lyrics:
If you want to be my friend
You want us to get along
Please do not expect me to
Wrap it up and keep it there
The observation I am doing could
Easily be understood
As cynical demeanor
But one of us misreadAnd what do you know
It happened againA friend is not a means
You utilize to get somewhere
Somehow I didn’t notice
Friendship is an end
What do you know
It happened againHow come no-one told me
All throughout history
The loneliest people
Were the ones who always spoke the truth
The ones who made a difference
By withstanding the indifference
I guess it’s up to me now
Should I take that risk or just smile? What do you know
It happened again
What do you know
