Everyone’s angry

I think these few weeks I have seen enough angry people.

Firstly, it was a Malay-Muslim man berating the beer promoter

Secondly, it was issue of ratification of ICERD. At the end, Malaysia did not ratify it.

Thirdly, it was my Grab driver whose dangerous driving nearly caused many near accidents. I don’t know if he is reacting because I spoke English to him instead of Mandarin. But if that’s the case, why can’t he speak up? Ok, don’t have to give me the reasons about his lack of education, his hard life etc. I have thought about it, but at the same time, all of us needs to be aware of our emotions.

Suddenly, Malaysia has so many angry people and becoming more racist. Also, Malaysians are not slow to listen. It is quite disheartening.

The problem is, Malaysia is such a complex country, and to just push it to your concept of unity and homogeneity is not going to work if you only chose one perspective to believe.

I think one day, Malaysia is not a safe place to stay, especially for me just because I am already stereotyped into the racial profile though I don’t fit in entirely into that profile.
